Hedera Moves Its Bridgeless Cross-Ledger Protocol Into the Linux Foundation
Hedera has contributed CLPR, a cross-ledger protocol developed by Hashgraph, to Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust as a new open-source lab.
The project is trying to solve one of the most persistent problems in crypto infrastructure: moving information and value between ledgers without relying on the traditional bridge architecture that has repeatedly become a security bottleneck.
Hedera announced the contribution on September 24 in an official release.
CLPR is taking a different route to interoperability
Most cross-chain systems introduce an intermediary layer that watches one network, validates an event and recreates its effect somewhere else. That design can work, but it also creates additional validator sets, smart contracts, custody assumptions or messaging layers that attackers can target.
CLPR is being developed as a “bridgeless” cross-ledger protocol. The important word is not marketing shorthand: the project is attempting to reduce dependence on the conventional bridge model by coordinating transactions across otherwise separate ledgers.
By moving the code into Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust, Hedera is also opening the work to a wider group of developers and infrastructure teams rather than keeping it as a Hedera-specific feature.
Early adopters are being invited into a test environment
Hashgraph is also recruiting participants for a Cross-Ledger Early Adopter Program. Selected teams will receive access to a hosted testnet environment where they can experiment with the protocol while it is still being shaped.
This makes CLPR worth watching even before it becomes production infrastructure. Cross-chain security remains one of the areas where the industry has paid the highest price for architectural mistakes.
A credible interoperability layer that reduces bridge-specific trust assumptions would be strategically important not only for Hedera, but for tokenized assets and institutional systems that may need to move across multiple ledgers.
The key question now is whether outside developers actually adopt the lab and whether CLPR can prove its security model under adversarial testing. The Linux Foundation contribution gives the project a broader venue to attempt exactly that.
