Bitcoin defies two major macro headwinds. The first is a surging US dollar. The second is a fast climb in Treasury yields. Both usually pressure risk assets, yet Bitcoin still trades above $82,000.
What Are the Two Headwinds?
The US Dollar Index reached about 102.5 on 5 October, an 18-month high. It sat near 99 in early September. Yields rose too. The 10-year Treasury yield stood at 5.24% on 9 October.
Higher yields make cash and bonds more attractive. Early October also brought a drop in demand, as Bitcoin ETF inflows collapsed 88% while on-chain activity heated up.
Bitcoin Pulls Away From the Dollar
CryptoQuant data shows Bitcoin has gained 29% since 12 June, even as the dollar rose.

The analysts say that move may point to demand specific to Bitcoin. Its chart shows the dollar correlation climbing back above zero in October after months in negative territory.
The dollar, Nasdaq, and gold together explain only about one-third of Bitcoin’s daily moves. Fund costs matter too, since ETF premiums and discounts can hide extra expense for buyers.
Reading the Weekly Chart
At 14:15 UTC on 12 October 2026, Bitcoin traded at $82,851.85. That is down 0.97% on the weekly BTCUSD chart.
Price still holds above the $80,000 level after a climb from the low $60,000s in July. The Parabolic SAR dots sit below price, which keeps the trend bullish.

The RSI reads 58.23, above its average of 51.92. That shows firm momentum with room before overbought levels.
The CryptoQuant chart shows the dollar index near 102 while Bitcoin holds in the low-to-mid $80,000s.
