Crypto Adoption Is Already Global — Why the US No Longer Tells the Whole Story

For years, the narrative surrounding cryptocurrency has been heavily skewed toward the United States.

However, the data tells a very different story. Crypto adoption is no longer an American phenomenon; it is a truly global, institutional, and bipartisan force.

In reality, a staggering 80% to 85% of all crypto activity now happens outside the US.

The True Geography of Digital Assets

Recent data highlights just how distributed the ecosystem has become. While the US accounts for 36% of Bitcoin’s hashrate and 31% of Ethereum full nodes, its share of spot trading volume drops to just 15%.

Even more telling, mobile wallet users (12%) and exchange website visitors (13%) remain notably low.

The chart clearly shows that roughly 15% to 20% of global activity occurs within the US, meaning the vast majority of stablecoin payments, cross-border flows, and developer activity are happening elsewhere.

This global expansion reflects the wider trends highlighted in TechGaged’s cryptocurrency adoption and market statistics report.

A Multipolar Market Reality

This global distribution extends far beyond mere trading. With 24% of stablecoin payments and 16% of cross-border flows passing through the US, the rest of the world is actively utilizing blockchain technology for real-world utility.

Solana staking (17%) further emphasizes that capital and network participation are fundamentally international.

This geographic diversification makes the asset class more resilient to localized regulatory changes and proves that adoption is deeply entrenched worldwide.

Stablecoin use in business payments also demonstrates this shift, as explored in TechGaged’s report on crypto becoming operational capital for businesses.

Global Demand Meets Price Action

As of October 31, 2026, at 10:00 AM UTC, the broader market is attempting to find its footing. Bitcoin is trading near $77,500, while Ethereum hovers around $2,230.

The global nature of the market means that despite US-centric ETF outflows or regulatory noise, demand from international markets continues to provide a vital support layer.

The data proves that to understand the future of digital assets, investors must look far beyond Washington and Wall Street.

Cross-border payment initiatives, including Solana’s partnership with a major South Korean bank, further illustrate how blockchain adoption is expanding across international markets.
