Hyperliquid’s native token, HYPE, is capturing the market’s attention following a massive deflationary event.
The platform has permanently removed nearly 5% of its total token supply from circulation, sparking a significant price rally as investors react to the newly tightened tokenomics.
The Mechanics of the Burn
According to recent data from the Hyperliquid burn monitor, the protocol has permanently burned 49.87 million HYPE tokens.
At current valuations, this represents a staggering $3.89 billion and accounts for 4.99% of the token’s 1 billion max supply.

This burn is not a random event but the result of a structured mechanism where protocol fees are used to buy back and destroy tokens.
In the last 24 hours alone, an estimated $1.69 million in fees were generated, leading to the burn of 19,700 HYPE.
The protocol’s all-time revenue of $1.38 billion underscores a highly active trading environment that fuels this deflationary pressure, a model explored in TechGaged’s report on Hyperliquid’s growth and fee generation.
A Vertical Ascent: HYPE Price Analysis
The market reaction to this supply shock has been explosive. As of October 29, 2026, at 10:00 UTC, HYPE is trading at $93.01, reflecting an impressive 18.9% gain over the past seven days.
The chart illustrates a relatively flat consolidation phase between $75 and $82 for most of the week, followed by a near-vertical breakout in the final hours.

The asset is now rapidly approaching the significant $95 psychological resistance level.
While the immediate support sits back at the $85 range, the sheer momentum of this breakout suggests bulls are firmly in control.
This type of move also highlights the importance of monitoring open interest and derivatives positioning when assessing breakout strength.
Evaluating the Long-Term Value
While the token burn is undoubtedly a bullish catalyst, a balanced outlook is necessary. The deflationary model is only as strong as the platform’s continuous fee generation.
If trading volumes on Hyperliquid decline, the burn rate will naturally slow, reducing this upward price pressure.
Furthermore, the recent 18.9% spike indicates the market is pricing in a lot of good news very quickly, leaving room for short-term volatility or profit-taking.
TechGaged has also examined how HYPE supply events can influence market pressure. For now, the supply shock has successfully shifted the narrative, but sustained growth will depend on the protocol maintaining its robust revenue.
