Bitcoin is navigating a difficult macroeconomic environment as elevated oil prices add pressure to risk assets.
With persistent tensions in the Gulf and intensifying Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries, Brent crude remains above $100 per barrel, creating another challenge for the world’s largest cryptocurrency.
The combination of geopolitical uncertainty, inflation concerns and important technical price levels could shape Bitcoin’s next move.
Oil Prices Add to Bitcoin’s Macro Pressure
As of October 23, 2026, Brent crude has climbed to a five-month high amid escalating geopolitical tensions.
Higher energy prices can feed inflation by increasing transportation, manufacturing and production costs.
If inflation remains persistent, central banks may have less room to lower interest rates, potentially limiting liquidity available to risk-sensitive assets such as Bitcoin.
The relationship is not always direct, and oil prices alone do not determine Bitcoin’s direction. However, investors may become more cautious when rising energy costs coincide with concerns about monetary policy.
A previous TechGaged analysis, examined the same relationship from the opposite direction, when easing oil prices offered the possibility of improving risk sentiment.
The current situation presents the reverse challenge: sustained high prices could keep inflation concerns in focus.
According to CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost, Bitcoin has historically struggled to gain momentum when Brent crude trades above its annual average.

Although this pattern does not guarantee further losses, it highlights the importance of monitoring energy markets alongside crypto-specific indicators.
TechGaged has also examined how Bitcoin’s broader market cycle could influence its next major move.
Seasonal patterns may offer context, but the current macroeconomic environment could affect whether bullish expectations translate into price gains.
Bitcoin’s $80,000 Support Faces a Critical Test
Bitcoin trades around $81,502 as of October 23, up approximately 0.2% over seven days but down roughly 3% to 4% over the past 24 hours, according to the supplied market figures.
The price recently faced rejection around $84,800–$85,000 before falling below $84,000 and $83,000. It subsequently reached an intraday low near $81,000 and began consolidating between $81,200 and $81,600.

The $80,000 level is now a key support area. A sustained hold could help Bitcoin stabilize if buyers return. However, a decisive break below it could expose the next support levels near $78,288 and $75,034.
On the upside, immediate resistance stands at $81,834 and $82,967, followed by stronger barriers at $83,621 and $87,519.
Traders should also watch derivatives positioning. As TechGaged explains in its guide to understanding crypto open interest, changes in outstanding futures contracts can help distinguish a move supported by new positions from one driven primarily by traders closing existing positions.
The Federal Reserve Could Add Another Catalyst
Markets are looking ahead to the Federal Reserve meeting scheduled for October 27–28.
Any shift in interest-rate expectations could influence Bitcoin, particularly while oil prices are keeping inflation risks in focus.
If Brent remains above $100 and Bitcoin loses $80,000, the combination could increase downside pressure toward $78,288 and potentially $75,034.
Conversely, if Bitcoin holds support and reclaims $82,967 and $83,621, a recovery toward higher resistance levels could become more plausible.
For now, Bitcoin faces two closely linked tests: whether geopolitical tensions keep oil prices elevated and whether buyers can defend the $80,000 support zone.
Neither outcome is certain, making developments in energy markets, Federal Reserve expectations and Bitcoin’s price structure important signals to monitor.
