Ethereum’s 2026 contrast is stark. Q3 was ETH’s best quarter in five years. The year is still its worst in four. A quarterly returns table shows how both can be true.

How Did Q3 Become the Best Quarter in Years?
ETH gained 70.98% in Q3 2026, CoinGecko’s Q3 report confirms. That is its best quarter since Q1 2021, when it rose 160%.
It followed two brutal quarters. Q1 fell 29.06% and Q2 fell 25.43%. US spot ETH ETFs took in $3.1B during Q3, which reversed all outflows from the first half. The rebound came fast, but it started from a deep hole.
Why Is 2026 Still the Worst Year in Four?
ETH is down 20.63% this year. In the last four years, 2025 lost 10.97%, while 2024 gained 46.07% and 2023 gained 90.64%.
Only 2022, with a 67.50% loss, was worse in the last five. Q4 has not helped so far. It sits at -12.25% and is still in progress.
October flows have been weak too, with spot ETH ETFs showing net outflows of about $1.07B for the month as of 21 October.
ETH Slips Toward $2,300
At about 09:25 UTC on 26 October 2026, ETH traded at $2,327.83. That is down 4.4% over seven days. The BTC pair stood at 0.02896206.
The seven-day chart opens near $2,430 on 20 October. Price jumped to about $2,470 on 21 October and peaked near $2,510 on 22 October.

A steady slide followed. ETH fell to about $2,380 on 23 October and hit a low near $2,305 on 24 and 25 October. A bounce to $2,365 faded.
ETH tested $2,300 again on 26 October before recovering to the current level. The ecosystem also faces security risk, as hackers drained $11 million from the Verus Ethereum bridge.
What Q4 History Can and Cannot Tell Us
Q4 has been mixed. ETH fell in Q4 in five of the last ten completed years, which are 2016, 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2025. It rose in the other five. That split gives no clear edge. Sitting out has costs too, as the inverse Kiyosaki strategy explains.
Forecast pages like TechGaged’s crypto predictions for 2026 show how wide the range of views is. Q3 showed how fast ETH can recover. Q4 is now testing how much of that gain it can keep.
