OKX launches five equity perpetuals original editorial illustration
Crypto exchange OKX expanded its traditional-finance derivatives offering on November 2 with five new perpetual contracts linked to publicly traded companies, adding another set of round-the-clock, USDT-margined markets that do not require traders to own the underlying shares.

According to OKX’s official listing notice, the instruments reference ADI, FLEX, MELI, PEP and UMC. Opening times were staggered in 15-minute increments between 11:30 UTC and 12:30 UTC on November 2. The announcement covers the exchange’s website, mobile application and API, although access is subject to country-specific eligibility.
The development highlights a growing distinction between tokenized ownership and synthetic exposure. These products are perpetual futures settled in the cryptocurrency USDT; purchasing a contract does not confer a shareholder’s voting rights, direct ownership of company stock or entitlement to a traditional dividend.
What OKX is launching
The five contracts are ADI/USDT, FLEX/USDT, MELI/USDT, PEP/USDT and UMC/USDT. The tickers correspond to Analog Devices, Flex, MercadoLibre, PepsiCo and United Microelectronics, respectively. The exchange says the contracts will trade 24 hours a day, seven days a week, rather than only when a particular equity market is open.
Unlike expiring futures, a perpetual contract generally uses periodic funding payments to help keep its market price aligned with a reference price. OKX states that funding is normally assessed every eight hours, with the interval switching to hourly when the funding rate reaches specified caps or floors. Those are costs or receipts that can accumulate independently of a trader’s directional price forecast.
The company’s notice specifies USDT as the settlement asset and describes a funding-rate framework, but does not provide a universal leverage limit in the announcement. Traders should review the live product specifications rather than assume the same leverage, margin or liquidation settings apply to every contract.
The significance is not necessarily that these five corporate names are more important than other stocks. Rather, the product turns a traditional equity reference into a continuously traded crypto-margin derivative, blurring the operational boundary between crypto exchanges and conventional brokerage-style exposure.
Twenty-four-hour access creates a different set of risks
Stock-linked perpetuals can trade overnight and on weekends when the underlying equity market is closed. That means the quoted derivative price may diverge from the last official share price, especially during major announcements or market closures. A trader may be able to enter or exit a contract at any hour, but constant derivatives trading does not imply constant underlying-stock liquidity or real-time discovery on the primary exchange.
The risk increases when leverage is involved. Adverse price moves can trigger liquidation long before a trader’s broader investment thesis is tested. Funding payments, exchange liquidation mechanisms, counterparty exposure, USDT settlement risk and sudden changes to contract specifications may also affect outcomes.
Investors should distinguish at least three structures that can look similar in an exchange app: owning a share through a licensed broker, holding a tokenized claim tied to a share and taking a synthetic futures position. Their legal rights, market hours, custody arrangements and insolvency protections may be very different.
Access to these products varies by jurisdiction; an OKX listing is not evidence that the instruments are authorized for every user in the European Union, the United States or elsewhere. The exchange itself directs customers to check regional availability in the application.
For the wider industry, the rollout illustrates how crypto trading platforms are using stablecoins as margin and settlement rails for increasingly diverse market exposures. Whether this becomes lasting demand will depend less on listing counts than on pricing quality, liquidity, transparent risk controls and regulatory treatment.
