XRP Whale Outflows Hit a 5-Year Low — Could This Signal a Major Shift?

XRP whale outflows on Binance have reportedly fallen to their lowest level in five years, marking a sharp change from the heavy distribution seen during the 2025 market cycle.

The decline could indicate that large holders are moving fewer tokens out of their positions, although it does not automatically confirm that selling pressure has disappeared.

XRP Whale Outflows Fall From 2025 Levels

At the height of the previous bull run in February 2025, daily whale outflows on Binance frequently exceeded $10 billion, while the 90-day moving average reached approximately $3.5 billion.

More recent figures put that average near $0.2 billion, its lowest level since 2021.

If accurate, the decline suggests a substantial reduction in the measured movement of XRP associated with large holders.

However, the precise interpretation depends on how the metric defines whale outflows.

Transfers between wallets and exchanges do not always represent completed sales, and lower outflows alone cannot establish that whales are accumulating.

Changes in XRP ownership patterns may provide additional context for understanding whether the latest shift reflects a broader change in holder behavior.

XRP Price Holds Near $1.32

As of October 20, 2026, XRP is trading near $1.32, down 3.5% over the past seven days.

Price action between October 14 and October 20 has been volatile rather than decisively bullish or bearish. XRP tested levels around $1.26 before recovering and consolidating in the $1.30–$1.34 range.

The token remains well below its reported cycle high of $3.30. That correction provides context for the latest whale-flow data, but it does not establish that the market has reached a bottom.

For XRP to build a stronger recovery, buyers would need to defend nearby support and generate enough demand to push the price beyond its recent range.

Could Lower Outflows Ease Selling Pressure?

A sustained reduction in whale distribution could create a more supportive environment for XRP.

If large holders are selling less while spot demand remains steady or improves, the market may face less overhead supply.

However, the effect depends on what is happening elsewhere. XRP could remain under pressure if retail demand weakens, broader crypto sentiment deteriorates, or large holders resume selling through other exchanges and trading venues.

Recent whale activity across the wider cryptocurrency market can also help put these developments into perspective. TechGaged’s report on which crypto assets whales are accumulating offers another angle on large-holder behavior.

A Potential Turning Point for XRP?

The reported five-year low in XRP whale outflows is a noteworthy development, particularly when compared with the much higher readings recorded during the 2025 cycle peak. It may indicate that the earlier phase of heavy distribution is losing momentum.

However, lower outflows are not a confirmed bullish reversal signal. If the trend persists alongside stronger demand and improving price structure, the case for an XRP recovery could strengthen. If buying remains weak, the token may continue consolidating near current levels.

TechGaged has also covered periods when XRP whale activity shifted alongside price movements.

Its report on XRP whale activity reaching a fresh high as the token broke a seven-month barrier provides a further comparison for readers tracking changes in large-holder behavior.

For now, the data points to a possible easing of whale-related selling activity, but confirmation will depend on how XRP’s price, exchange flows, and broader demand develop next.
