Zcash developers continue to explore ways to strengthen onchain privacy. Zakura developer Adam Tucker has proposed post-quantum unlinkable swaps, a design that would allow users to derive a separate incoming viewing key for each address.
If adopted, the proposal could strengthen Zcash’s privacy features and provide a new development milestone for ZEC.
Strengthening Privacy in a Post-Quantum World
The proposal aims to make it harder to connect separate transactions and addresses belonging to the same user.
By using distinct incoming viewing keys, the design seeks to reduce transaction-correlation risks while preserving Zcash’s core privacy features.
The post-quantum element also reflects growing interest in preparing cryptographic systems for future advances in quantum computing.
However, the proposal should not be interpreted as proof that Zcash is already protected against every quantum-related threat.
Its effectiveness will depend on the cryptographic design, technical review, and eventual implementation.
TechGaged has explored the broader development of privacy-focused blockchain technology in its report on Zcash’s evolution toward institutional private finance.
ZEC Price Holds Steady Amid Technical Progress
As of October 20, 2026, Zcash is trading near $1,204.57, up 0.1% over the past seven days.

Between October 14 and October 20, ZEC fluctuated from approximately $1,050 to $1,280 before settling in the low $1,200s.
The token has recovered above $1,100, although the recent consolidation does not yet confirm a sustained bullish trend.
The proposed privacy enhancement could attract attention if development progresses, but its effect on ZEC will depend on broader market sentiment, implementation, and actual adoption.
Could the Proposal Become a Fresh Catalyst?
Privacy improvements could strengthen Zcash’s appeal among users who prioritize transaction confidentiality.
If Tucker’s proposal advances toward implementation, it may reinforce the network’s position in the privacy-focused crypto sector.
TechGaged has also examined security concerns surrounding Zcash and their potential implications for ZEC.
Such discussions highlight why continued technical development and transparent security reviews matter to long-term confidence.
Still, a proposal alone does not guarantee increased network usage or higher prices. Traders will need to watch for implementation progress, community support, and evidence that the design delivers its intended benefits.
TechGaged’s discussion of quantum-resistant cryptography and the challenges facing blockchain security provides additional context for this wider debate.
For now, Tucker’s idea represents a potential long-term development catalyst for Zcash, rather than a confirmed trigger for an immediate ZEC rally.
